The Nice List: A Heartfelt Thank You for Making Perley Health's Holiday Season Bright!
The holiday season at Perley Health is a time for joy, togetherness, and gratitude. This year, we were especially blessed by the incredible generosity of our friends, partners, donors, and organizations from the local community who went above and beyond to bring cheer to Seniors and Veterans at Perley. If we were to make a Perley version of “Santa's Nice List,” we know we'd be sure to include every one of these amazing folks who helped make the season merry and bright! A special thank you to:
Sunshine Snow Service Inc: The Magical Tree Decorators
A big round of applause goes to the team from Sunshine Snow Service Inc who kicked off the holiday season in the most festive way possible! Not only did they deck out our Christmas tree in sparkling splendor, but their warm hearts and fun spirit lit up our entire community. They've been a huge part of keeping our grounds looking beautiful all year long, and this holiday season, they also went above and beyond by making a generous donation to support Perley Health.
Sunshine's dedication to spreading joy and their unwavering commitment to the community truly shine through in everything they do. A big thank you for making our holiday celebrations so much brighter—your efforts are truly appreciated by all of us at Perley Health!
Boeing Canada: A Sky-High Thanks for Holiday Cheer!
A big thank you to Boeing Canada for bringing holiday cheer to Perley Health! The Boeing Canada team transformed Lupton Hall with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree that now serves as the centerpiece for our festive celebrations—including the much-anticipated Christmas Eve sing-along.
Here's a fun challenge for our readers: can you spot the special Boeing ornament on the tree? Residents, families, and staff are already enjoying the search!
Thank you for spreading your holiday spirit and making a lasting impact on our Seniors and Veterans. Together, we're creating magical moments this season.
Nurse Next Door: A Pink Christmas Surprise
Thank you to our wonderful friends at Nurse Next Door for decking out a tree that's become the talk of the village! Their stunning pink Christmas tree that stands tall in the Main Hallway has quickly become a hot spot for our entire community. Rachel from our Therapeutic Recreation team shared that “Having these groups come in causes a positive commotion—there's excitement seeing the trees get decorated. It's heartwarming to see them celebrating our Seniors and Veterans.”
Nurse Next Door, your warmth and generosity shine through in everything you do, and we're so grateful for your contribution to our holiday celebrations.
Sting Association U11AA Hockey Team: A Christmas Get-Together with Veterans
We'd also like to thank the Sting Association U11AA Hockey team for their visit to Perley Health! The young athletes brought holiday cheer by supplying snacks, organizing games, sharing gifts for Veterans, and spending an afternoon socializing and enjoying each other's company. Your thoughtfulness and generosity made a huge impact on all of our spirits. Thank you for sharing your time and kindness with us this holiday season!
101st Ottawa Beaver Scouts: Caroling and Card-Making
Another big impact by some small people—thank you to the 101st Ottawa Beaver Scouts who came in and spent time with Seniors and Veterans for the afternoon! The Scouts sang Christmas carols and made personalized holiday cards for Perley residents, and joked and played with our community right up until it was time to say goodbye. Their kindness and energy brought smiles to many faces, and we couldn't be more grateful for their contribution to the season's festivities.
Smiles for Seniors: Gifts, Cards, and Holiday Magic
A huge thank you to the Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group, the Canadian Forces Morale & Welfare Services, and the Directorate of Honours & Recognition who made the Smiles for Seniors initiative such a success! Visitors teamed up to deliver gifts, Christmas bags, and over 100 handmade Christmas cards for residents. The smiles and joy this brought to everyone involved were priceless, and we're grateful to everyone who made this tradition possible.
Since 2000, Smiles for Seniors has been a beautiful reminder of how small gestures can have a big impact. Thank you to the volunteers and local businesses who helped bring joy to 50 residents this holiday season.
Trudy's Festive Concert en Français
It's always a special day when Trudy, former Perley Health Musician, returns for a visit. We were lucky to have Trudy come to Perley Health for a special concert that included, of course, some great music, and lots of fun! Thank you, Trudy, for entertaining Seniors and Veterans for the afternoon with the French sing-along concert. We can say we don't know if there's much our community looks forward to more than hearing your voice, your music, and your playing fill our halls with sweet melodies once more. Thank you for helping us kick off the holiday season in such a fun and special way
Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Canada: A Festive Visit to Remember
Finally, we want to thank the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Canada for their special visit! The annual KVA Christmas party is one we always look forward to, and this year we were treated to visits from special guests from the Embassy including H.E. Woongsoon Lim, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, and Colonel Dongwon Lee, the Korean Defence Attaché.
The gathering was full of joy, and included speeches, tea and coffee, cake, a performance and sing-along by the Korean Embassy Choir, and, of course, a visit from Santa himself! Thank you for continuing to help ring in the holiday for Seniors and Veterans in such a special way; it is always celebration to remember!
