Perley Health is a unique and innovative community that empowers Seniors and Veterans to live life to the fullest. Home to more than 600 Seniors and Veterans in long-term care and in independent apartments, Perley Health provides a growing number of clinical, therapeutic and recreational services to residents, tenants and people from across the region.
One of the largest and most progressive long-term care homes in Ontario, Perley Health is also a centre for research, education, and clinical innovation. Our Centre of Excellence in Frailty-Informed Care conducts and shares the practical research needed to improve care. Future caregivers come here to study and to acquire hands-on skills and experience.
Perley Health's values are brought to life each day by our over 800 employees. And more than 400 regular volunteers connect us closely with the community. Together, we improve the well-being of Canada's aging population.
Perley Health Board of Directors
Governance oversight of Perley Health is accomplished through a Board of Directors consisting of up to 18 dedicated volunteers who serve for a minimum term of three years. Directors should expect to commit at least 20 hours per month to fulfill their Board and Committee obligations.
In addition to Directors, the Perley Health Board also occasionally recruits Adjunct Advisors. Such individuals generally have specific skills and serve as an advisor to one the Board's committees. Adjuncts have no term limits and should expect to commit at least four hours of their time per month.
A member of the Board of Directors has the following key responsibilities:
- Attend monthly meetings;
- Serve on at least one committee; and
- Pre-read materials in preparation for meetings.
When fulfilling responsibilities related to the Board, Directors and Adjunct Advisors are expected to exercise the following three main duties:
- The duty of due diligence;
- The duty of loyalty; and
- The duty of care.
Board Recruitment:
From time to time, Perley Health needs to recruit new Directors and Adjunct Advisors with specific skills needed to support the proper functioning of the Board.
