Honouring Excellence: Perley Health Celebrates Staff Dedication and Retirees at Annual Recognition

On October 3rd, 2024, Perley Health held its annual Staff Recognition Event, bringing together the community to celebrate the dedication and achievements of our staff. This year's milestone event recognized more than 115 staff members for their long service, with milestone pins for service ranging from five to 30 years. The event, returning for its second year in-person, was a tribute to the people who embody Perley Health's mission of providing compassionate, person-centred care.

Following the pin and certificate ceremony for personal milestones, 17 recent retirees were acknowledged and honoured.  From six years to an impressive 33 years of service, these individuals left an indelible mark on Perley Health and the lives of countless residents, tenants, and families. Nine of these retirees attended the event in person, where they were joined by their colleagues and managers, who shared touching tributes and personal reflections.

Perley Health's CEO, Akos Hoffer, and Board Chair, Lloyd Campbell, expressed their deep appreciation for staff and retirees. “Your dedication and hard work have made a significant impact on the lives of our residents, tenants, clients, families, and friends,” said Akos Hoffer. “Your contributions have shaped Perley Health into the exceptional organization it is today.”

The event highlighted the organization's resilience and commitment to excellence, even during a pandemic. Despite the challenges faced by long-term care homes across Ontario, Perley Health maintained staffing levels without resorting to temporary employment agencies—a testament to the loyalty and dedication of its team.

There were smiles, laughs and applause as retirees were recognized individually, each with their own story of service, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Akos Hoffer emphasized that these achievements were a reflection of Perley Health's values: continuous improvement, advocacy for the greater good, and fostering a community that goes beyond healthcare.

The event concluded with special thanks to the teams who made the day memorable: Human Resources, Housekeeping, Therapeutic Recreation and Creative Arts, Food and Nutrition, and Communications. The vibrant table centers, designed with the input of residents, added beauty and joy to the celebration.

Perley Health is proud of its staff and retirees, and this event underscored the profound impact they've made on the community.

“Your dedication and hard work have made a significant impact on the lives of our residents, tenants, clients, families, and friends,” said Akos Hoffer. “Your contributions have shaped Perley Health into the exceptional organization it is today.”
