Audiologist
Temporary Full-Time; Starting June 2025
Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Care, the Audiologist is responsible for the provision of Audiology services to long-term care residents and private community-based clients. The Audiologist will work professionally in a team-focused environment, upholding the vision, mission, goals and objectives of Perley Health, and adhering to all policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assesses resident and community client needs through interview, clinical observation, problem solving, and standardized/non-standardized testing to determine treatment goals.
- Following the review and analysis of the assessment data, a treatment program and intervention plan is developed, implemented and evaluated to facilitate client goals.
- Documents all clinical assessments, treatments, and communications in the electronic medical record.
- Provides a written report to referral source when required.
- Completes applications and other forms related to funding for Audiology services from third parties.
- Assists in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs related to Audiology.
- Participates in internal and external committees related to clinical services and is an active member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provides education to staff related to Audiology scope of practice.
- Communicates updates on Audiology services to staff.
- Provides guidance and education to residents, staff and family members to ensure proper use of prescribed hearing aids or other assistive devices.
- Provides training to reception team about completing simple repairs for hearing aids.
- Maintains competence by attending workshops, in-services and educational programs relevant to professional practice.
- Completes administrative duties as needed to support professional role (e.g., photocopying, faxing documents, typing reports, maintaining filing systems, etc.).
- Maintains administrative records and statistics.
Education & Experience:
- Master's of Audiology, member of College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists
- A minimum of two (2) years of related experience is required, most recently as an Audiologist.
Skills & Competencies:
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and anticipate needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- The ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates good judgement and discretion in handling confidential information
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and to promote efficient processes in the work environment.
- Conduction of hearing assessments
- Prescription of hearing aids and other hearing-related assistive devices
- Repair of hearing aids
- Experience with Auditory Processing Disorders, auditory training, tinnitus, and decreased sound tolerance is an asset
